When standing water is an emergency
Standing water is an emergency whenever it is more than a puddle, whenever it is still coming from a pipe or appliance and whenever it is near electrical outlets or the breaker panel. Water spreads across a floor fast, and a few hours of soaking is the difference between a dry-out and a rebuild.
Our 24/7 line is open at night, on weekends and on holidays. Same-day response is offered when available. Never wade through water that might reach a powered outlet or appliance, and call your utility or 911 for any gas or electrical risk before you call us.
Stop the source
Close the main water valve, or the supply valve for the fixture or appliance that is leaking.
Power safety
Turn off power to the wet area only if the panel is dry and you can reach it without standing in water.
Lift what you can
Move electronics, paper, shoes and small furniture to dry ground. Leave heavy furniture in place.
Document
Take photos or video of the water line on walls and furniture before extraction begins.
How water extraction works
Extraction removes bulk water before drying begins. Submersible pumps handle deep water, and portable or truck-mounted extraction units pull water from carpet, pad and hard floors. The goal is to take out as much liquid as possible so the drying equipment only has moisture to deal with, not gallons.
After extraction, the crew checks moisture with a meter, lifts wet pad if needed and sets air movers and dehumidifiers. If the water stayed on the floor for a long time, the structure may need water mitigation for several days afterward.

☎ (949) 670-0939Burst pipe water damage
A burst pipe is the most common reason for an emergency call. Copper pinholes, a split supply line behind a toilet, a frozen or failed connector under a sink and a broken irrigation or water heater line all release water quickly. In multi-story buildings, the water often shows up in the unit or room below before anyone knows where it started.
Step one is the shut-off. Close the main valve, open a low faucet to drain the line and keep the wet area clear. Step two is extraction, followed by moisture mapping to find water that moved into wall cavities and under cabinets. A plumber repairs the pipe, and the restoration crew handles the water.
| Source | What to do first | What the crew does |
|---|---|---|
| Burst supply line | Shut off the valve for that line or the main | Extracts, maps moisture, dries wall and floor cavities |
| Water heater failure | Shut off cold water supply and power or gas to the unit | Extracts, inspects pad and baseboard, dries the closet and adjacent rooms |
| Washing machine or dishwasher | Turn off the appliance and its supply valve | Extracts, treats Category 2 water where needed, dries floor and cabinets |
| Overflowing toilet or tub | Close the supply valve and keep people out if the water is dirty | Extracts, removes affected porous materials, cleans and dries |
Why speed matters and what it costs
The EPA advises drying water-damaged areas and items within 24 to 48 hours to prevent mold growth. The cost of a removal job depends on the depth and area of the water, the water category, the materials soaked, how many drying days follow and any demolition. We explain scope and price before work starts, and the dispatcher can give you an idea from a short description.
Insurance and photos
Sudden and accidental water from a pipe or appliance is often covered by a homeowners policy, but policies differ. The California Department of Insurance says to report damage to your insurance agent or representative to start a claim and to keep a log of calls. We keep dated photos and moisture readings so you have records to share.
Emergency water removal in Aliso Viejo
Aliso Viejo has many multi-story homes and condos, so a leak on the upper floor can reach the ceiling below within minutes. If you live in a condo, tell your HOA or property manager at once and ask them to shut off water to shared lines if needed. Our dispatch point is at 32 Journey, near City Hall and the Aliso Viejo Library.
For heavy rain that reaches the house or a drain that has backed up, read about flood damage restoration. Once the water is out, water damage cleanup handles the sanitizing, and we also dispatch to Lake Forest and nearby towns.
Common questions
Do you handle water removal emergencies at night or on weekends in Aliso Viejo?
Yes. The 24/7 line is open on nights, weekends and holidays. Call, describe the water and what is already wet, and the dispatcher tells you what to shut off while a crew is arranged. Same-day response is offered when available.
Should I turn off the power if there is water on the floor?
Only if you can reach the breaker panel without stepping in water. If the panel is wet or the area near it is flooded, stay out and call your utility or 911.
Can I use a wet-dry vacuum myself?
For a very small spill, yes. For anything bigger, a household vacuum leaves moisture in the pad and subfloor, which starts the mold clock. Call a crew when the water covers more than a small area.
Does water removal include drying?
Extraction removes the bulk water and drying equipment follows. The two are different steps, and a floor that feels dry after extraction can still be wet underneath.
What if the water came from a neighbor upstairs?
Call us to extract your side and tell your property manager or HOA the same day. Take photos of every wet surface and ask them in writing who authorizes the work.
